I have started this blog in hopes to motivate myself back into jewelry making and design.  I had taken a long break from designing and creating once my daughter was no longer a baby sleeping the day away.  Back then...I would have time to create/design when she would sleep.  Then she became an active cute toddler that didn't sleep as much.  I put all my creative works aside (including jewelry making and design).  I didn't miss it as my daughter and son (older and doing his own thing) were very active in their own activities and play.  I didn't want to miss any of this.   I don't regret any of that at all.  Now, my daughter is 5 and son is 10 (both soon to be 6 and 11).  They are both curious..."why aren't you making jewelry or painting anymore mommy?"  Well, since they have somehow developed an interest in mommy having interests...this has pushed me back in the direction of creating.  I am happy and blessed to have such encouraging children.  My daughter wants me to make jewelry so she can watch and learn.  I have taught my son over the years jewelry making and other creative outlets.  Now it is her turn and this is very exciting!  It felt, for a while, as if I would not have a reason to get back into jewelry and art (for myself that is) creation.  With all of this said...this blog is a record to track my re-journey in jewelry design/making and painting as well.  Now, I do it for my children and not just myself.  This takes the guilt out of it that I felt before.  I did have that guilt that I was going to miss something with my children.  I am glad I did what I did by taking years off and now ...with nothing more to say..."here I go!"  Wish me luck!

MelanieR Jewelry's business card evolution

From left to right shows my business cards oldest to most recent! That said ... I am nearly out of my recents and need to move forward. My next card will be similar to the most recent except I would like to include my logo to tie everything together : sites etc...

Left card was done with vista was not a "free" style . The card was perfect at the time for my only hemp jewelry designs.

The middle card was created with Moo and on the back is different pictures of my jewelry! Love these!

The right card and most recent is also created with Moo...pretty much the same as the middle but half the size. Love these also! The quality is so nice!!!

Me: Melanie the Rt teacher

Yep! I, Melanie R, am day...the Art Teacher to 850 wonderful students. Here is a recent picture of myself at a school author/illustrator visit. The illustrator is a long time buddy of mine. In the pic below ...she is drawing Me for a demonstration as the author talks about their books!

It was strange to be drawn and even more strange to be drawn by a past art teacher that is a friend!

I will try to get ahold of the link to her books that she illustrated in another post.

Being drawn...I took this picture or as the kids say "selfie!" This was taken on Carolina Panthers pride day at school boy I didn't have a shirt so I went as a Super Bowl Ad! Go Pokemon 20!!! :-)

Here is my buddy and illustrator / artist/ mural artist/ arts council president / retired art teacher and most of all friend! What a talent she is!

Here she is with my awesome son holding my pic with her! He loves Judy and did a drawing for her years ago!

Welcome to Post #1 of MelanieR Jewelry's Blog

Hello all!

I have other blogs that I have had for years and I have never thought of making one for my favorite hobby and art form...Jewelry Making!  I love making jewelry as wearable Art!  I am an elementary art teacher to 850 awesome K-5 students.  I love my job but I also love exercising my own creativity at home with Jewelry and Abstract Painting.  This is about Jewelry mostly BUT I can not leave out my passions for art and art education.  I love all things art and creative.  I naturally love God, husband, children, furbaby Phoebe, and family/friends.

This is just my initial post to give you a sense of who I am as a human.

My etsy shop (that needs to have jewelry additions) is:

Take care!

Here's to my personal challenge of keeping this blog up and rolling.

Happy Valentine's Day as well!

Did you buy Jewelry for anyone for Valentine's day?  If so...what kind? (what was it made of? handmade? online or brick and mortar?, etc...tell me about your jewelry purchases!)
